A relationship that rarely speaks of the love they have for one another. I can draw heavily on my thoughts of the relationship with my father and conclude that the distance in miles between us have strengthened our bond. Further more as I have a son of my own we have more in common and has given me an insight to the huge influence of my dad. It's made me conscious of the effect I have on my son Jack. The phrase "chip of the ole' block" has never been more meaningful for me. I like to think Russell your poem is a reminder that as fathers we have a duty, through our wisdom, to give our sons the courage to face the future. But remember they will not fully appreciate our efforts until they are fathers themselves. We must leave our own personal legacy. I loved the ending, a feeling of hope and responsibility.
